ProTrain CEO Betty Lucas-Gardner appointed Middle States Commissioner

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS) announced on Monday, Sept. 12, the appointment of ProTrain CEO Betty Lucas-Gardner as commissioner. Lucas-Gardner, who lives in Raleigh, N.C., is one of five new commissioners.

“I am pleased to welcome Betty to Middle States as a commissioner,” MSA-CESS President Christian Talbot said. “Middle States accredits a wide variety of schools, including learning centers that are uniquely designed to prepare students for the workforce. We are certain to benefit from Betty’s extensive experience in this area.”

As CEO of ProTrain, Lucas-Gardner leads a team of educators that offer four modalities of training including classroom, live online synchronous, online asynchronous self-paced, and online asynchronous self-paced with scheduled mentored cohorts. These programs cover a wide range of disciplines including business, allied healthcare, information technology, industrial skilled trades, and green renewable energy.

Lucas-Gardner earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing education from North Carolina State University. Previously she was director of two computer training centers, and an instructor of technology and marketing.

The Middle States Commissions on Elementary Schools and Schools comprise 38 commissioners serving a three-year term and elected by the Middles States membership. Commissioners meet twice annually to review accreditation recommendations and the organization’s finances, policies, and strategic plan.
