ProTrain’s 3 Certification Courses for Medical Assistants

Over the last 5-10 years, the medical assistant has become one of the most critical professionals in the typical healthcare setting. Medical assistants play a vital role in hospitals, clinics, and private practices. Their main job is to bridge the gap between clinical practice and administrative responsibilities.

Given that the medical assistant role has expanded so much in recent years, being certified by a nationally recognized accrediting organization is a must. Certification demonstrates that an individual has mastery of the skills and knowledge required to be an effective medical assistant. It is what modern employers want these days.

ProTrain offers three different certification courses for medical assistants. One is a self-paced online course while the remaining two are both Live Online courses. All three are enhanced with a new hands-on labs feature we just recently introduced. Hands-on labs give students opportunities to solve real-world problems in a controlled environment.

Your Course Options

One of our career counselors would be more than happy to speak with you about our three medical assistant courses to help you figure out which is the best for you. Here is a brief description of each one:

1. Medical Assistant (Self-Paced)

Our self-paced Medical Assistant program introduces students to the roles and responsibilities of a medical assistant in the 2020s. It covers the fundamentals of clinical medical assisting, assisting with medications, assisting with clinical laboratory procedures, and a variety of medical specialties a professional could pursue.

The course prepares students to take the National Healthcareer Associates (NHA) Medical Assistant Certification (CCMA) national certification exam. Students have 12 months of access to complete 175 hours of training.

2. Medical Assistant (Live Online)

Our live online Medical Assistant program with separate internship explores the career in depth. Students learn about the role of the medical assistant along with details about health records, terminology, medical emergencies, and even infection control. Different specialties are also discussed.

Students learn through 93 hours of synchronous learning and 100 hours of online learning. After completion, the student is ready to sit for the CCMA certification exam. In order to obtain a Certificate of Training Completion, the student must pass all course quizzes and the national certification exam.

3. Medical Assistant – (Live Online w/Exam Voucher)

Finally, our third medical assistant certification program is essentially the same as the Live Online program except with the addition of an exam voucher. The voucher covers the cost of sitting for the national certification exam. Also note that, like the other program, internships are separate. Feel free to ask about an internship when you speak with one of our career counselors.

Learn Your Way

Among the many benefits of learning through ProTrain is being able to learn your way. Many of our medical assistant students prefer the self-paced method of learning online. They can take our course and complete the work on their schedules. They can go as fast or slow as they desire, as long as they complete course work within 12 months.

Others prefer the live online method because it gives them direct access to instructors and other students. Live online courses are obviously more structured, but they are ideal for students who do better when they can interact with others.

For more information about any of our medical assistant courses, send a message to info@protrain.edu. You can also read the descriptions of each course online by clicking here, here, and here. Training with ProTrain will prepare you for a national certification exam that will provide you with a nationally recognized certificate you can use to launch or boost your career.
