aPHR Certification: Ideal for New HR Professionals

Human resources (HR) professionals can choose from a variety of certifications designed to help them along in their careers by making them better at what they do. One such certification is the Associate Professional and Human Resources (aPHR) certification. It is ideal for new HR professionals. Those with many years under their belts might be better served by PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP certification.

ProTrain Offers Three Courses

ProTrain offers three options for aPHR certification. Those options are:

  • Exam Prep – A 135-hour, self-paced class offering access for 12 months.
  • Live Mentored – A 151-hour, online and live course delivered over 12 months.
  • Live Online – A 156-hour class delivered exclusively online and led by an instructor.

The exam prep class is a favorite among students who need the flexibility to learn on their own time and schedule. Upon completion of the course, a student is not yet certified. Rather, the certification exam must be taken and passed.

Benefits to New HR Professionals

As a new HR professional, you might be wondering where your career is going. Needless to say, there is lots of room to grow in your industry. But will you be able to grow quickly through on-the-job training alone? Anything is possible. Still, obtaining your aPHR certification could help you get where you’re going faster.

Here are the main benefits of getting certified:

  • Foundational Knowledge – Undergoing training to be certified prepares you for any direction your career might take with foundational knowledge every HR professional eventually has to know anyway.
  • Employability Enhancement – You might not work for the same employer for your entire career. In the event you decide to switch jobs, the aPHR certification will make you more employable.
  • More Opportunities – Being certified could potentially open more career opportunities to you. Rather than being confined to the position you are in now, certification offers lateral movement. Lateral movement can ultimately lead to vertical movement.
  • Earning Potential – Certification tends to lead to higher earning potential. Employers are willing to pay more because a certified professional has demonstrated a commitment to HR.
  • More Training – It is hard to go wrong by undergoing continuing training throughout your career. For HR training, it all begins with the aPHR certification. It is the steppingstone for further training and certifications.

More than anything else, putting in time and effort to be certified demonstrates dedication and commitment to your profession. It demonstrates a willingness to learn, which can be advantageous in a competitive job market.
