5 Signs It’s Time for Some New Training and a Mid-Career Change

It used to be that people would settle into a career in their twenties and stick with it until retirement. A lot of people didn’t even change employers back then. But that was life for our grandparents and great-grandparents. Things have changed a lot in the last 40-50 years. Today, a mid-career change is no longer unusual.

Perhaps you are thinking about such a change yourself. You feel like you’re not accomplishing anything where you are now. You feel like there must be something better for you out there. We can’t tell you whether that’s true. But we can offer you some signs that might suggest you need some new training and a mid-career change.

Know that ProTrain specializes in online certification training. We have programs in healthcare, IT, business, HR and many more. If you decide that it is time for a change, we may just have the career training you are looking for.

1. The Passion You Once Had Is Gone

When you first embarked on your current career, you were excited. You were passionate about the projects you were working on. Now, not so much. Very little in your current job interests you. You do what you do to get by. Then you go home, get some sleep, and turn around the next day and do it all over again.

If the passion you once had is gone, a mid-career change might be just what you need to get that passion back. Maybe you need a new career in cannabis. Perhaps you need to be certified as a drone pilot so you can be a self-employed contractor.

2. You’re Constantly Looking at Other Jobs

Constantly looking at job postings is a telltale sign that you are not satisfied with your current position. But maybe it’s not just the position. Perhaps it’s the industry you work in. Switching gears could open the door to a whole new career path you actually find exciting and rewarding.

3. You Dread Going to Work Every Day

Nothing is worse for the working man or woman than going to bed at night while dreading work the next day. Dreading work is a sure sign that you don’t want to be there anymore. Is a mid-career change the right solution? It’s possible. Think about what you would rather be doing and how some new training could get you on that path.

4. You Are Mentally and Physically Exhausted

Working in a job that doesn’t interest you – or even one that you truly hate – is mentally and physically exhausting. It is a drain on your mind and body. If you constantly feel like you have nothing left in the tank, see your doctor first. If there is nothing physically wrong with you, it could just be that you need a career change.

5. You Feel Like Your Salary Doesn’t Match Your Effort

For some people, a mid-career change is a financial decision. They have realized that their chosen career cannot pay them commensurate with the effort they put in. They know they are worth more, but they need to switch careers to earn more. Does this sound like you?

The ProTrain team can’t make the decision to switch for you. But we are here to help should you decide it’s time for a change. Take a look at our catalog of online certification training courses. We cover a variety of industries and job categories.
